Dear Friends, Colleagues,
It is our pleasure to welcome you to the 5th International Conference for Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Regional Development (ICEIRD 2012) in
This year’s theme is “Regional Development for Unleashing Growth Throughout Southeastern Europe”
One of the key points seems to be that world-beating and innovative approaches need time, trust, and funding. On time, there has to be medium or long-term planning and stability. On trust, academics, researchers and business people need to work closely together – it has to be a habit and a reflex. On funding – the right conditions for private investment must be in place, and imaginative public funding can also play a vital role.
The Conference directly fulfils the mission of ICEIRD which is to support the development of South East Europe by providing a multi-disciplinary forum for researchers, practitioners and policy makers in the field of innovation/entrepreneurship and regional development. These will be addressed in a 2-day event.
ICEIRD 2012 aims to:
- raise the level of awareness about innovation, entrepreneurship and competitive advantage
- strengthen the regional and international network among representatives from SEE countries and those from EU member states
- consolidate intra-SEE networks of SMEs,
- understand barriers that prohibit the blooming of entrepreneurship in the global economy
- promote best practices in innovation research and business development
- facilitate regional partnerships and innovation networks
Sofia is both, a city with a glorious history of thousands of years, settled in the last century BC, and a cosmopolitan modern city full of life. We have chosen the oldest, the largest and most prestigious educational and scientific centre, the Sofia University, in the very centre of Sofia to host the Conference, and we made sure that all the latest developments in the science and art of Entrepreneurship, Innovation, and Regional Development will be presented and discussed during the 5th ICEIRD 2012.
We hope all the delegates will have a successful and educational conference, and also the chance to enjoy the Bulgarian hospitality for which our country is widely known.
